Abuja-based spoken word artist, Gift Speaks, recently performed a poem from Osieka Osinimu Alao’s new poetry collection, Spirit of the Times. In the video, the poem, “The Spectre, the Song, the Silence,” was enlivened by Gift Speaks’ enthralling and spirited performance. The poem, which addresses the present crises bedevilling the Nigerian state, was spun off the page by an animated delivery, to stir the emotions of poetry lovers and the public at large. The captivating performance video was directed by Onyekachi Olisa of Exploit Innovation.
